Yoga Asana

Physical Practice

sat - sun - tues - wed

SATURDAYS

9:00 - 10:00 AM EST

 Bright Flow & Let Go

A blend of styles in which we will both coordinate breath and movement as well as relax and let go into postures.  In flowing the body and breath, we open channels for energy to move through it.   In letting go in the body, we restore and replenish energetically, receiving that vital force that moves life through us.

TUESDAYS

5:30 - 6:30 PM EST

Energetic Calm

A time to pause, go inside, connect, and experience your mind and body on a deeper level. Reset mentally and physically to feel active and energetic, yet soothed and calm, as you greet the evening.

SUNDAYS

10:00 - 11:15 AM EST

Restore & Strengthen

Check back here weekly to see if Sunday class is outside or online this week: Class on 1/17/21 will be inside on Zoom

Restore your energy, balance the body with strength and flexibility, and open up the heart and mind to this deeper spiritually-centered practice.

Please have props handy (yoga blocks, firm blankets/pillows).

Offered all year - On designated days we may practice OUTSIDE at the park.

WEDNESDAYS

11:00 - 11:30 AM EST

Centering Practice

Center yourself in this 30-minute practice right in the middle of the workweek.  You'll be able to clear the mind and give your body the attention it deserves.  It might be a challenge to make the time for class, but you won't regret making the effort!

Notes on live Zoom classes:

  • Class will begin on time. You may log in a few minutes early to be prepared.

  • You may keep your camera on or off but please make sure you are muted during practice.

  • I typically record class so that it can be available on my website and YouTube later, but I am the only one showing in the recording.

Deep Relaxation with Yoga Nidra

Two Thursdays per month

Yoga Nidra involves lying down while I verbally guide you into a state of deep relaxation.  In that relaxation you'll be able to experience the presence and power of Awareness right then and there.

Live Yoga Nidra on hold- stay tuned for original recorded sessions

Energetic Cleanse

The first month of the new year!  This session will focus on the clearing out obstacles in the chakras, obstacles which are obscuring the "wheels of light."  Following breathing techniques, and chanting, you will lie down for extended period and experience a guided meditation using the techniques of Yoga Nidra.  You will relax deeply with the power of awareness.

December 17, 2020

7:00 - 8:00 pm EST

Winter Solstice:

"Into the Dark Night"

Just days before winter solstice in which we experience the longest period of darkness and thus the "shortest day," we will be focusing on the meaning for the soul at this time.  We'll also focus on cultivating long-lasting peace in which we are not controlled by our emotions.  We'll engage with breathwork, chanting, guided meditation while lying down, visualization, and sounds of crystal singing bowls.

Notes on live Yoga Nidra classes:

  • Class will be held on YouTube to help with sound quality.

  • The buttons will take you to a page on my website where that "unlisted" livestream video will be held.

Group Discussion

& Support -Good Intentions

One Thursday per month

Usually the 2nd Thursday

A monthly zoom meeting where we talk about our goals - our "good intentions" - and following through with them, considering both our challenges and triumphs.

An open discussion about how to do the things we want to do in our lives.  What have we identified as life-supporting and important for us to invite into our lives?  And what sorts of methods might we try to help us put our good intentions into practice?  One might see this as a friendly accountability group.  Others might find it useful to express their ideas verbally.  Hearing each other's perspectives and experiences is a beautiful way to share lived wisdom to inspire us to move forward.

The quote that inspired the creation of this group:

"Put, without delay, your good intentions into practice, never leaving a single one to remain only an intention." -H.P. Blavatsky

The First Two Limbs of Yoga

Yama & Nimaya Study

First Monday of the Month

There are "8 Limbs" or "8 branches" of Yoga.  In the West, we equate "Yoga" with what is actually only the third branch, and that is "asana."  "Asana" is about cultivating the ability to have a "comfortable seat" in order to practice meditation for long periods, though we tend to equate the word with physical postures of Hatha Yoga.

In this monthly group study, we will be focusing on the first two branches of Yoga, "Yama" and "Niyama."  Sages all over the world have recognized ideal ways of living to enhance our quality of life as well as the rate of our evolution.  The Yamas and Niyamas offered by many such sages in the Yogic tradtion, give us guideposts for ways of living harmoniously with others and with ourselves.  By assimilating these ways into our lives we come to a deeper awareness about ourselves and build a genuine ability to respect life.

Without these two branches, it is said that our physical practice is mere exercise and I wholeheartedly believe it.  Our thoughts and behaviors really matter, because they affect us as well as others in seen and unseen ways.  These branches matter more than perfecting any physical yoga posture.

If you are interested in joining, please e-mail me directly or use the "contact" option in the menu.  You'll need to purchase a copy of the book that we'll be studying:
