YOGA BLEND:

RESTORE + STRENGTHEN

ALL EXPERIENCE LEVELS WELCOME
A blend of restorative and strengthening yoga postures - we open and close practice with yogic chanting, listen or chant along.  While we will practice strengthening exercises, we'll also make time for play and exploration of longer held postures to make noticeable differences in the body and mind. Slowing the breath, the body, the thoughts, we honor nature's ability to restore and heal.

The Mind: Our minds are so busy with thoughts and the entertaining of them.  The Sage, Patanjali, explains in the Yoga Sutras that there are five kinds of repeating thoughts: right knowledge, wrong knowledge, fancy, sleep, and memory.  The problem is not that we have thoughts, but that we entertain them over and over again when it's not even relevant to the moment.

This practice naturally helps us slow it all down.  As the mind slows, we practice being awareness, aware of what is inside, what is outside, taking all that comes as it is without the entertainment.  The mind comes into a more restful state this way and our experiences get deeper and deeper.

I encourage you to also come in slow, leave slow.  We practice in the middle of a spiritually-oriented bookstore and there is 15 minutes before and after class to look around or just relax.

The body: The physical aspect of yoga is so special, I find, because while the body is active, the mind remains relaxed.  Relaxation is necessary for the body to restore and regenerate.

MORE ON YOGA AND THESE CLASSES

YOGA is a system for self-transformation. The physical practice of yoga postures, which incorporate focus and concentration, help tone, strengthen and increase flexibility in both body and mind. This class is open to all levels, including beginners and the advanced.

You are encouraged to find your level of challenge through postures and breath. Your yoga practice will help you release tension and facilitate a deep relaxation while strengthening both body and mind.

The practice of Yoga entails practicing awareness, being awareness, watching and witnessing. To provide an appropriate level of challenge for each person, you will be reminded to stay aware and in-tune with your body as you honor where you are at right now. Modifications are suggested for each posture to meet different levels of experience.

YOGA IN THE PARK, YOGA IN NATURE!

Restore & Strengthen Yoga- all levels.  Bring a yoga mat, a blanket for underneath it, hydration, and anything you need for the sun though there IS shaded area under trees.

Practicing yoga in nature, for me, has created some of the most memorable moments of my life and it's lovely getting outside for class.  The songs of the birds, the feel of the wind, the glowing sun, the shapes of the clouds, the energy of the sheltering trees with their limbs and leaves rustling with the wind.  You might feel the same.  Try it out!

This class is open to beginners, intermediate and advanced. It's a slow flow practice with a range of challenge. Practice at your own pace.
